Choosing an adapter
On first launch you are asked which network connection to control. Pick the adapter that carries the traffic you care about, which on a laptop is usually the Wi-Fi adapter and on a desktop the Ethernet one.
If several are listed, the right one is normally the adapter holding an IP in the same range as your router, such as 192.168.1.x. Ignore anything named after a VPN, Hyper-V, VMware or Bluetooth unless you specifically intend to manage that network.
The initial scan
On startup the application sweeps the subnet and lists every device that responds. This takes a few seconds. Devices asleep at that moment appear later, once they transmit.
Reading the device list
- IP address, the device address on your network
- Vendor, resolved from the MAC prefix, so Espressif usually means a smart plug and Murata a TV or console radio
- Live download and upload in MB/s, updated every second
- A sparkline showing recent activity, useful for spotting bursts
- A cap slider, an online/offline toggle, and the current limit
Your own machine is excluded from the list. You cannot accidentally cut yourself off.
